Job summary

Northside Hospital Inc. is seeking a qualified Medical Interpreter to provide consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation for LEP patients and families, and to translate documents as needed.

The role includes sight-translation and ensuring clear communication of medical procedures and discharge instructions. The candidate should have a minimum high school diploma, at least one year of interpreting experience (six months in medical interpreting), a certified training program of 40+ hours, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• One year of interpreting experience, with 6 months of medical interpreting.
• Certificate of completion from a recognized Medical Interpreter Training Program (minimum 40 hours).
• Successful completion of the Interpreter Skills Test (IST) as administered by Northside Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Provides consecutive and/or simultaneous language interpretation for LEP patients and families.
• Sight-translation of materials to improve comprehension of medical procedures, discharge instructions, and education.
• Translates hospital documents from English into target language as assigned by supervisor.
