Job summary

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking an Evening Assistant Residential Supervisor to lead in Barnegat and Lacey homes for adults with disabilities. You will guide Direct Support Professionals, ensure safe, person-centered services, and collaborate with the Residential Program Manager to keep operations running smoothly in the evenings.

Starting pay is $25.00 per hour with potential shift differentials and overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two+ years of residential experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.

Evenings in a residential home are filled with activity. Individuals are returning from their day, participating in community activities, completing routines, working toward personal goals, and spending time at home. Having a dependable leader on the shift helps make all of it possible.

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking an Evening Assistant Residential Supervisor to provide hands‑on leadership within community homes serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Barnegat and Lacey. You’ll work alongside the Residential Program Manager while serving as an important source of guidance for Direct Support Professionals throughout the evening.

From responding to unexpected challenges to keeping individualized services and household responsibilities on track, you’ll help create the consistency employees and individuals can rely on.

Shift & Pay Details

Location: Barnegat, New Jersey and Lacey, New Jersey
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour, plus evening/weekend shift differentials and overtime opportunities

What You’ll Lead

Be the Go‑To Resource on Shift

• Help coordinate the everyday operation of the residential home alongside the Residential Program Manager.
• Provide leadership throughout the shift and step into management responsibilities when circumstances require.
• Respond to changing priorities and operational concerns while helping maintain consistent services.
• Contribute to a residential environment that is safe, organized, welcoming, and centered around the individuals who live there.

Give Employees the Support They Need

• Guide Direct Support Professionals through day‑to‑day responsibilities by providing direction, coaching, and encouragement.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, and professional growth while reinforcing agency expectations.
• Support employee onboarding and training while assisting with scheduling and appropriate shift coverage.
• Participate in employee coaching, feedback, and performance improvement activities.

Make Independence Part of Everyday Life

• Encourage individuals to develop daily living abilities, work toward personal objectives, and engage in meaningful activities throughout their communities.
• Assist employees with implementing Individual Habilitation Plans and individualized behavioral support strategies.
• Coordinate with families, interdisciplinary team members, and outside providers to help individuals achieve positive outcomes.
• Ensure residential supports consistently promote dignity, choice, personal growth, and independence.

Protect the Quality of Services

• Monitor program documentation and records to help ensure information is complete and accurate.
• Support the coordination of medical appointments, medication systems, and other health‑related services.
• Help maintain compliance with agency policies and applicable DDD, DHS, DCF, and licensing requirements.
• Participate as needed in inspections, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and corrective action efforts.

Stay on Top of the Details

• Assist with household purchases and monitoring expenses associated with the residential program.
• Complete required reports, records, and administrative responsibilities within established deadlines.
• Keep program leadership informed and maintain effective communication regarding operational needs and concerns.

This isn’t a leadership position where you’ll spend the entire shift removed from daily operations. You’ll be present alongside the team, helping employees navigate challenges and making sure individuals continue receiving dependable support throughout their evening.

You’ll also work closely with experienced residential leadership, giving you an opportunity to strengthen your supervisory abilities while contributing directly to the quality of the home.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of residential experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise employees while fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and adjust schedules based on operational needs.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with residential support services.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
