Job summary

Cook County Health, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesia staff by handling and sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, maintaining devices, and transporting oxygen cylinders.

Under supervision of anesthesiologists, you'll help start operative cases and position patients in the OR. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 5 years in an OR or procedural area; preferred ASATT certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Five (5) years of experience working in an operating room or procedural area is required.
• Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports at the start of the shift and after each task, as assigned.
• Stocking par stock and unpacking disposable items upon arrival.
• Changes breathing circuits, lays ECG leads, and pulse oximetry sensors prior to each case.
• Maintains transport oxygen cylinders and regulators for use.
• Assists in transporting and positioning patients, placing monitors at case start under supervision.
• Cleans anesthesia equipment after each case and conducts periodic cleaning as directed.
