Job summary

Cook County Health seeks an Anesthesia Technician to support anesthesia professionals by handling and sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, and transporting oxygen cylinders. The role includes assisting in the start of operative cases, positioning patients, and applying basic monitors under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Five (5) years of operating room or procedural area experience required.
• Preferred: five (5) years as an Anesthesia Technician.
• Preferred: ASATT certification.

Responsibilities

• Reports at the start of the shift and after each task.
• Stocks par stock and unpacks items upon arrival.
• Changes breathing circuits, ECG leads, and pulse oximetry sensors before each case.
• Ensures oxygen cylinders, regulators and masks/ambu bag are available.
• Assists in transporting and positioning patients and attaching monitors for cases.
• Checks OR equipment and retrieves items needed by the anesthesiologist.
• Transports blood for blood gas and electrolyte analyses.
• Performs limited maintenance on anesthesia machines and ventilators.
• Maintains other monitoring equipment.
• Assists with monitors and warming/ventilating equipment placement.
• Cleans anesthesia equipment after each case and tracks inventory.
• Available during emergencies as directed by the anesthesiologist.
