Qualifications

• Coursework or degree in education, special education, child development, counseling, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a school or after-school setting.
• Experience working with students who have diverse academic, behavioral, or learning needs.
• Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
• Experience using educational technology.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting, and child abuse registry clearance.
• This is not a position within the collective bargaining unit and is not an administrative position.
• This is a non-exempt position.
• For the 2026-2027 School Year only.
• This position is dependent on grant funds (grant-funded).

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group tutoring based on students' academic needs.
• Assist students with homework, class assignments, projects, and other academic tasks.
• Provide targeted support in areas such as literacy, writing, mathematics, and study skills.
• Use age-appropriate instructional strategies and activities to support student learning.
• Differentiate instruction and tutoring approaches based on students' abilities, learning styles, and needs.
• Monitor student understanding and provide additional explanations, modeling, practice, and feedback as needed.
• Encourage students to develop effective study habits, organization skills, and independent learning strategies.
• Support students in setting and working toward academic goals.
• Take student attendance and maintain accurate records.
• Assist with student arrival and dismissal procedures.
• Help prepare and organize instructional spaces.
• Set up and clean up materials before and after activities.
• Assist with enrichment activities or special events.
• Support recreational activities when assigned.
• Assist students during snack or meal periods while following applicable program requirements and strictly follow child allergy guidelines.
• Help maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the program administrator.
• Provide friendly, professional updates to parents and guardians at pickup.
