Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Detroit, MI seeks a Range and Efficiency Engineer for electric and hybrid powertrains.

You will set targets, run simulations with GT-SUITE, AVL Cruise, and MATLAB/Simulink, and collaborate with aerodynamics, thermal, and powertrain teams to improve range and energy efficiency. You will analyze designs and test under varying conditions to drive energy-saving features.

Qualifications

• Automotive powertrain optimization experience preferred.
• Proficiency in simulation-driven design and engineering analysis.

Responsibilities

• Set and track range and efficiency targets for electric and hybrid powertrains.
• Conduct detailed simulations to optimize aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and powertrain efficiency using GT-SUITE, AVL Cruise, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, thermal, and powertrain teams to integrate energy-efficient technologies and design optimizations.
• Analyze vehicle designs for energy loss sources and implement design modifications to maximize range and minimize power consumption.
• Correlate simulation results with real-world data to improve predictive accuracy under varying driving conditions.
• Document findings and recommendations for range and efficiency improvements with actionable feedback for future iterations.
• Develop methods for continuous improvement in vehicle energy efficiency, including materials and power management strategies.
• Conduct vehicle range tests in different environmental conditions to assess battery efficiency and overall performance.
