Job summary

Harbinger Motors in Garden Grove, California seeks a Powertrain Technician to join the Test team. You will set up, instrument, operate and teardown powertrain test articles, including electric motors, inverters, and drive units, bridging engineering and real‑world validation.

You will work on dynamometers, install sensors, fabricate fixtures, and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and performance of our medium‑duty EV powertrains.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in automotive, aerospace, or heavy‑duty powertrain testing and assembly.
• Proficient with shop tools including torque wrenches, meters, and scopes.
• Understanding of high‑voltage safety up to 800V+.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical schooling valued.

Responsibilities

• Set up powertrain components on dynamometers for performance testing.
• Assemble/disassemble powertrain systems and drive units for testing.
• Instrument test hardware with sensors (thermocouples, transducers, accelerometers).
• Fabricate test fixtures, cooling loops, and high/low voltage wiring harnesses.
• Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues to maximize uptime.
• Maintain a HV‑safe lab environment in the testing area.
• Collaborate with engineers to document test results and iterations.
