Job summary

Harbinger in Garden Grove, CA, is seeking a Powertrain Technician to support the testing and validation of electric powertrains for medium‑duty EVs. You will set up, instrument, operate, and teardown test articles such as motors, inverters, and drive units, bridging engineering design and real‑world performance.

You will work on dynamometers and test rigs, assemble and disassemble powertrain systems, and document test results with precision.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, aerospace, or heavy-duty powertrain testing and assembly.
• Proficiency with standard shop tools, torque wrenches, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and basic fabrication equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and high-voltage safety protocols (up to 800V+).
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills, with precise technical documentation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate or Associate's degree valued.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical and electrical powertrain setup on dynamometers and test rigs for performance and durability testing.
• Assemble and disassemble powertrain systems and components for testing.
• Instrument test hardware with sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers, accelerometers, flow meters).
• Fabricate custom test fixtures, cooling loops, and high/low voltage wiring harnesses.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues to maintain testing uptime.
• Maintain a clean, HV-safe lab environment and proper documentation of results.
• Collaborate with test/design engineers to document anomalies and iterations.
