Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced power electronics engineer to lead design and development of high‑performance power converters for EV applications. The role focuses on APM and OBCM modules, with a strong emphasis on efficiency, power density, and reliability.

The candidate will work across cross‑functional teams, perform complex simulations, and provide technical leadership in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with focus in power electronics.
5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience designing and developing DC/DC or AC/DC converters.
Strong understanding of power-electronics theory, topologies, magnetics, and losses.
Experience with EMC/EMI design and troubleshooting in power-electronics modules.

Responsibilities

Develop converter architectures and power-stage concepts, including topology selection and component integration.
Create and review schematics, interfaces, and design documentation for prototypes and production concepts.
Perform design trade studies using simulations, benchmarking, cost & efficiency analyses, and reliability considerations.
Develop models for converter steady-state, transient, thermal, and fault conditions.
Plan prototype builds, bring-up, bench testing, debugging, and design iteration in HV labs.
Collaborate with controls and embedded software teams on modulation, protection, and system control strategies.
Provide technical direction to suppliers and participate in reviews and DFMEA.
