Job summary

Ford in Palo Alto seeks an EDS Design Engineer to define and integrate next-generation electric vehicle harnesses. You will own the end-to-end design, route optimization, and manufacturing readiness, collaborating across electrical and mechanical teams during bring-up and production launches.

You will solve EMI, thermal, and packaging challenges, drive DVPR activities, and keep EDS components current. The role blends hands-on design with cross-functional leadership.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering and 5+ years in automotive or similar industries.
• Experience with 2D/3D EDS tooling and production launches from concept to SOP.
• Proven ability to design, route, and integrate vehicle harnesses in mass-production environments.

Responsibilities

• Own harness families end to end from concept through production launch.
• Develop 3D vehicle harness designs and optimize routing for mass, cost and packaging.
• Resolve EMI, thermal protection, mechanical durability and environmental sealing issues.
• Lead design verification, packaging reviews and DVPR execution.
• Define protection, retention and variant strategies; update EDS library with new components.
• Support assembly lines during development to resolve issues and ensure on-time delivery.
• Create 2D drawings and schematics for suppliers with accurate data.
• Research wiring technology trends and apply to production readiness.
