Job summary

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) is seeking an experienced Project Manager II to lead cross-functional efforts in electrification, grid modernization, and sustainability. The role focuses on Transportation Electrification and Vehicle-Grid-Integration initiatives, coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver complex programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or nine years of relevant work experience.
• Five or more years of progressively responsible project management work experience, including at least one year in a leadership role.
• PMI PMP Certification within 12 months of appointment; alternatives include engineering/construction management qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activities and project plans, budgets, work breakdowns, and schedules for assigned projects.
• Plan and report progress through meetings and written/oral updates.
• Ensure work aligns with objectives, schedules, and SMUD policies and quality standards.
• Review team performance, provide guidance, and support development actions for staff.
• Negotiate and manage participation agreements and contractor activities.
• Develop resources and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project goals.
