Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, seeks a Functional Safety Platform Systems Engineer in Dearborn, MI to translate system design into formal requirements in JAMA Connect and drive traceability through the safety lifecycle.

You will write test cases, review V&V results, and support hands-on testing on EV subsystems, collaborating with the Functional Safety team to apply ISO 26262/ASPICE practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, systems, or automotive engineering.
• 1–4 years in systems engineering, requirements engineering, or test/V&V roles (automotive or related industry preferred).
• Exposure to JAMA Connect or similar requirements/ALM tools (DOORS, Polarion, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret system architecture diagrams and design specifications.
• Willingness to learn EV-specific systems (battery, powertrain, charging, thermal management, or ADAS/vehicle controls).

Responsibilities

• Review and author system design documents, concepts, and architecture diagrams to derive functional and non-functional requirements.
• Structure requirements in JAMA Connect with traceability to design/architecture.
• Support requirements reviews and drive items toward approval/baseline.
• Learn automotive requirement-writing best practices under guidance from senior engineers.
• Develop test cases derived from approved requirements for EV subsystems.
