Job summary

Harbinger, an American EV company, seeks a Fastener Engineer to own threaded fasteners and torque-controlled systems across platforms. You will define, test, and maintain fastener standards linking design, manufacturing and quality, covering material selection, coatings, DC nutrunner validation, and inline process monitoring.

Responsibilities include standardization, torque strategy development, joining process oversight, and joint validation testing, with travel up to 20% for supplier audits

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience
• 5+ years fastening engineering or assembly joining experience
• Experience with DC nutrunners, multi-spindle fixtures and riveting tools
• Strong knowledge of ISO 261/262 and SAE J429 fastener specs (8.8, 10.9, 12.9)
• Experience with carbon steel fasteners and coatings (Zinc-Nickel, Geomet)
• Ability to interpret torque/angle data and ensure traceability

Responsibilities

• Author and maintain fastener standards and specs
• Define tightening strategies and validate torque data
• Oversee installation and monitoring of structural fasteners
• Lead joint validation testing (torque-to-failure, push-out/pull-out)
• Evaluate coatings for corrosion resistance and clamp load delivery
