Job summary

General Motors seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop and implement thermal management control and diagnostic algorithms for the next generation of EV vehicles. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust software, implemented in MATLAB/Simulink or hand-coded C, and create unit and multi-component test cases for thorough validation.

You will explore new thermal systems, contribute to software development efforts, and travel up to 10% domestically

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study.
• Four (4) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Associate Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineering Intern, Software Test Engineer or related occupation.
• Or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study. Two (2) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Associate Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineering Intern, Software Test Engineer or related occupation.
• Two (2) years of experience in the following: Software coding including C-language, Simulink, Stateflow, GIT environment, plant modeling, and Python; Embedded software and controls development experience; Developing hand code in C language; Compile ECU level software build; Development and testing experience on SIL and HIL; and Jira and Agile Framework.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement thermal management control and diagnostic algorithms for GM’s next generation of EV vehicles.
• Work closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams to interpret functional requirements to translate and implement appropriate control and diagnostic strategies.
• Create and integrate software in either MATLAB Simulink models or hand-coded C.
• Create or modify Unit test cases and Multicomponent test cases to ensure thorough software testing.
• Explore and understand new thermal systems and requirements to enable controls and software development.
• 10% travel to client sites domestically and internationally.
• Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.
