Job summary

General Motors is seeking a software engineer to design, develop and deploy thermal management control and diagnostic algorithms for next‑gen EVs. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into robust software and test plans, including unit and multicomponent tests.

The role requires strong C/C++ and MATLAB Simulink skills, embedded software architecture experience and familiarity with Git/GitHub in a SIL/HIL environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software/engineering field with progression to 5 years' software engineer experience OR Master's with 3 years' experience.
• Experience writing and debugging C/C++ and MATLAB Simulink.
• Development of embedded software architecture; familiarity with software configuration mgmt (Git/GitHub).
• Experience with SIL/HIL and other virtual environments.

DUTIES: Design, develop and implement thermal management control and diagnostic algorithms for GM’s next generation of EV vehicles. Work closely with multi-disciplined engineering teams to interpret functional requirements to translate and implement appropriate control and diagnostic strategies. Create or modify Unit test cases and Multicomponent test cases to ensure thorough software testing. Explore and understand new thermal systems and requirements to enable controls and software development. Up to 10% domestic and international travel required. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation OR Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer or related occupation. Three (3) years of experience with: Writing and debugging C/C++ and MATLAB Simulink; Developing embedded software architecture; Software configuration management processes and tools Git and GitHub; and Development on SIL/HIL and other virtual environments.
