Job summary

CAC I is seeking a European Portuguese Instructor to support a high-priority mission. This full-time, in-person role requires teaching and language assessment for adult learners (ILR 2–3) and sponsorship for clearance.

Applicants must hold a TS/SCI with polygraph and pass a language assessment. The instructor will deliver in-person instruction, tailor materials to learner needs, translate and edit materials into American English, and incorporate geopolitical context.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution or from the country where the target language is spoken; 5+ years of direct adult teaching experience; or 7–10 years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 6–8 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to pass an advanced English proficiency translation assessment at a Senior Level.
• Ability to achieve ILR Level 5/5/5 in speaking, listening, and reading in the target language.
• Strong understanding of geopolitical, cultural, regional, and ethnic dynamics of the relevant language areas.
• Proficient with MS Office and skilled in online research.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person instruction to advanced-level adult students (ILR 2–3).
• Apply linguistic expertise and teaching skills to support critical mission requirements.
• Summarize, gist, translate, triage, and edit foreign-language materials into accurate, professional American English.
• Deliver instruction that incorporates cultural, regional, and geopolitical context relevant to the target language.
• Maintain instructional excellence and adapt teaching materials to meet learner needs.
