Job summary

Excellus BCBS is seeking a Software Engineer focused on ETL and Informatica work. The role spans the software development lifecycle and involves coordinating with clients and cross-functional teams to communicate project statuses and proposals.

The position supports development, testing, validation, and on-call production activities while promoting best practices and security standards. Level I–IV responsibilities evolve with mentorship, standards, and the addition of enterprise technologies

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in computer science, information technology or related field. In lieu of a degree, three (3) years of experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Basic knowledge of at least one programming language such as C#/.NET, Java, SQL, C++, Python, Visual Basic or JavaScript.
• Basic understanding of one of the following tools/platforms such as Informatica, CI/CD, Pega, Power BI, Cognos.
• Basic knowledge of at least one operating system such as Unix-Based or Windows.
• Basic database experience
• Basic understanding of software testing and quality.
• Demonstrated basic ability to communicate with team members and understand user stories.
• Demonstrated basic ability to implement security architecture principles.
• Basic knowledge of OpenAPI and OWASP risks.

Responsibilities

• Develops code, analyzes, researches, and resolves associated system issues.
• Participates in on-call production support rotation.
• Supports, maintains, creates and follows all documented IT processes and standards, application documentation and design and code reviews.
• Collaborates and communicates with team members to understand requirements and identify application impacts.
• Creates work plans, specifications and programs with guidance.
• Develops skillset in one tool and ability to utilize source control.
• Establishes understanding of the SDLC methodologies used by the team.
• Maintains privacy in accordance with corporate policies.
• Performs other functions as assigned by management.
• Mentors in area of technical expertise.
• Provides input to documentation of organizational standards.
• Develops intermediate understanding of SDLC and one enterprise technology.
• Advances knowledge to support additional enterprise technologies.
