Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a Professional Responsibility Counsel to manage ethics and regulatory compliance across the firm, including conflicts of interest reviews and ethics walls. The role emphasizes policy development, research, and practical guidance for attorneys and staff.

The candidate will advise partners and practice groups, coordinate with the Deputy General Counsel on complex issues, and help maintain confidentiality while addressing evolving professional conduct standards.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active license to practice law in the state where the employee is located
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in legal ethics, conflicts of interest, professional responsibility, or a related area
• Experience with conflicts clearance processes, engagement terms, outside counsel guidelines, waivers, or ethics walls preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and the ability to translate ethics concepts into practical guidance for attorneys and staff

Responsabilités

• Assist in developing policies and processes to help firm lawyers comply with ethical and regulatory requirements
• Serve as a resource for complex conflicts of interest on new matters and engagements; review conflicts and render determinations
• Review, negotiate, and approve engagement letters, waivers, and outside counsel guidelines; identify conflicts and advise on waivers and ethics walls
• Supervise and train staff on conflicts, ethics, and professional responsibility topics; provide ongoing feedback to ensure policy consistency
• Advise partners and practice-group leaders on ethics, professional responsibility, and risk-management matters, escalating complex issues when warranted
