Job summary

Green Plains Inc. is seeking a plant operator focused on safe, accurate performance in the fermentation and distillation areas. You will learn the full ethanol production process, operate the DCS, and follow start-up and shutdown procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a strong work ethic. No prior experience is required, though work in industrial plants is helpful and safety is paramount.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate a utility vehicle.
• Hard working and self-motivated.
• Detail-oriented and accurate; dependable; positive attitude.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• No prior experience required.
• Experience in industrial production plants is helpful.
• Maintain understanding of applicable regulatory requirements (FRA, TTB, state).

Responsibilities

• Learn all facets of the ethanol process including cook, distillation, evaporation, dryers, thermo oxidizer, centrifuges, grain system, and water treatment.
• Learn and operate DCS (computer control system) for the plant.
• Follow SOPs for start-up, shut down, cleaning and batching.
• Keep logs accurate and timely; monitor parameters and notify management of problems.
• Collect samples and perform tests (yeast counts, HPLC, GC) and record results.
• Maintain clean facilities and briefing of incoming shifts.
• Coordinate with maintenance and lab for testing procedures.
