At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

An exciting opportunity exists at Raytheon for an engineering manager to join our semiconductor foundry engineering leadership team within the RF Microelectronics/Module Design & Foundry Services (RFMicro) Department. The Etch Sr. Section Lead in this role would be responsible for directing a group of skilled etch process engineers to fabricate advanced microelectronic devices in accordance with various technology roadmaps in support of Raytheon Technologies business pursuits. The section lead is expected to be able to coordinate and lead an engineering team working within a 24/7 foundry environment over 5 shifts. These road maps consist of both near term efforts on the cusp of transition-to-production, as well as longer term development efforts that maintain a pipeline of innovation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in III-V semiconductor processing, preferably in GaAs, GaN or GaSb. Technical knowledge of both development and sustainment of dry and wet etch processes is critical in order to guide the team and direct the technical roadmaps. They will review and oversee project schedules and cost, determine team priorities, review process changes, identify and champion process improvement opportunities, work to improve process yields, and interface with operations management.

This role will be 100% on-site and based in Andover, MA.

  • Drive technical strategy for Etch (Dry Etch, Wet Etch, Wet Clean, Electroplating) processes within the foundry
  • Review process changes, identify and champion process improvement opportunities, work to improve process yields, and interface with operations management
  • Review and oversee project schedules and costs, drive capital acquisition and qualification, execute process improvement and development activities for the foundry
  • Facilitate the effective allocation of team resources in ways to support the oversight of the foundry processes, assist in identifying future capital investment needs, and foster open communication between functional teams
  • Work with the department manager on manpower and resource planning, controlling overhead costs, developing and delivering employee performance reviews, and developing/reviewing proposals
  • Support management at the department, directorate, and functional leadership levels
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field
  • A minimum of Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience with semiconductor processing or process integration (An advanced STEM degree could count for 3 years of experience)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • A Master’s degree or PhD. in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field
  • Experience working with GaAs, GaN, and/or GaSb semiconductor processes strongly preferred
  • Leadership experience driving teams in a high-paced environment
  • Deep technical knowledge of Dry Etch, Electroplating, Wet Etch and Wet Clean processes
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process control and related SPC software
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Customer focus and collaboration skills
  • Project scheduling and management experience
