Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors in Dallas, TX is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to lead accurate, competitive estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects from bid through handoff. You will assess scope, constructability, schedules, and risk, perform takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and coordinate with operations to set projects up for successful execution.

Preferred candidates hold a civil engineering or construction management degree and have experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Experience estimating water and wastewater projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete / heavy civil.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read plans, specs, and contracts.
• Familiarity with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and OST is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, piping, and infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and price self-performed labor, materials, equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Evaluate phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating.
• Identify risks, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed budgets and handoff to project team.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout after award.
• Collaborate with operations to set projects up for success.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to join our team. You’ll play a key role in pursuing and planning water and wastewater infrastructure projects, developing accurate, competitive estimates and partnering closely with operations and project management from bid through project handoff.

We’re looking for someone who understands water/wastewater construction and self-performed work and can evaluate scope, constructability, risk, and cost—not just perform takeoffs.

What You’ll Do

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Experience estimating water and/or wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
• Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
