Job summary

MSS Solutions, LLC is seeking an Estimator – Plumbing to contribute fresh ideas and expertise to our growing team in a plumbing-focused role. The position involves estimating, bid preparation, and collaboration with vendors and subcontractors to deliver competitive proposals.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in the plumbing industry with 3+ years in estimating, strong blueprint-reading skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in plumbing industry and at least 3 years of estimating experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
• Ability to understand plumbing principles, concepts, and perform calculations.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
• Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
• Random drug testing required.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug test.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Estimate, bid, and review proposals with vendors and subcontractors.
• Develop detailed quantity take-offs.
• Create bid packages and scopes of work for subcontractors, evaluate bids and issue contracts.
• Collect project data and compare to office capabilities.
• Perform equipment takeoffs.
• Assist Managers with technical support.
• Review construction plans or other requirements as needed.
• Provide knowledge in developing facility-related solutions for customer problems.
• Develop and discuss possible solutions with Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.
• Coordinate selection, pricing, and integration of equipment for each project.
• Prepare, finalize, and review proposal/submittals and submit.
• Assist Manager in determining proposal price and selling strategy.
• Resolve major deviations from scope with team after Project Scope Validation.
• Assist Manager in developing project fulfillment schedule with project team.
• Prepare and review contract terms and conditions using standard templates.
• Work with team to solicit proper expertise to meet customer needs.
• Other duties as assigned by the Company.

Role and Responsibilities

• Involved throughout estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
• Develop detailed quantity take-offs.
• Create bid packages and contract scopes of work for subcontractors, evaluate bids and issue contracts.
• Collect project data and compare to the office’s capabilities.
• Perform new equipment takeoffs.
• Assist Managers and Project Managers with technical support.
• Perform construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs and constraints.

• Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints, construction plans, and specifications.
• Ability to understand plumbing principles, concepts, and perform calculations.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office products.
• Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.

• Physical Demands: Constant sitting, walking short distances, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above and/or below shoulder, handling/grasping documents or office equipment, clear speaking and adequate hearing sufficient to communicate effectively, vision sufficient to read source materials and computer screen data, repetitive motions for computer equipment use, lift 25 lbs occasionally, 5-10 lbs frequently to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.

Work is performed in an office environment with air conditioning and bright lights.
