Job summary

L-Con, Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator for structural steel to review drawings, prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bids and change orders.

You will perform take-offs, obtain subcontractor quotes, apply labor rates, and coordinate with project management to ensure bid requirements are met. Strong blueprint reading skills and at least five years in estimation are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent. Degree in related field is preferred.
• Minimum of five years’ experience as an Estimator in structural steel required.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, models, proposals, project manuals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for construction bids or change orders.
• Perform take-off of all steel or mechanical equipment and enter in an estimating program as required and/or obtain quotes from subcontractors.
• Apply labor rates and hours per standard guidelines established for the type of project.
• Communicate with project management team to ensure the design intent is understood and bid requirements are followed.
• Prepare ATP’s/Change Orders for the customers.
• Fill out all required bid forms and schedule information.
• Obtain review and approval of estimates prior to submitting and route the estimates to the applicable parties once the bid has been submitted.
• Update and organize the estimating folder and answer questions.
• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Physical Demands

Requires some overtime and weekend work. May require some overnight travel. Must be capable of multi-tasking and be efficient in time management. Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment to meet deadlines. Must be able to sit and work on a computer most of the workday. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
