Job summary

Lexicon Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator for steel construction projects in Little Rock, AR. You will analyze blueprints and specifications to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bids or change orders, and perform take-offs with subcontractors as needed.

The role requires five years of estimating experience in structural steel, the ability to read architectural drawings, and proficiency in Word and Excel. Overtime and punctual attendance are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as an Estimator in structural steel.
  • Must read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, models, proposals and other docs to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bids or change orders.
  • Take-off of steel or mechanical equipment; obtain quotes from subcontractors as required.
  • Apply labor rates and hours per standard project guidelines.
  • Coordinate with project management to ensure bid requirements are followed.
  • Prepare ATPs/Change Orders for customers.
  • Fill out bid forms and schedule information.
  • Route estimates for review and submission to applicable parties.
  • Update and organize estimating folders; answer questions.

Job description

Responsible for reviewing all documents, drawings, and specifications for assigned projects, change orders and determining the estimated cost and selling price.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, models, proposals, project manuals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for construction bids or change orders.
  • Perform take-off of all steel or mechanical equipment and enter in an estimating program as required and/or obtain quotes from subcontractors.
  • Apply labor rates and hours per standard guidelines established for the type of project.
  • Communicate with project management team to ensure the design intent is understood and bid requirements are followed.
  • Prepare ATP’s/Change Orders for the customers.
  • Fill out all required bid forms and schedule information.
  • Obtain review and approval of estimates prior to submitting and route the estimates to the applicable parties once the bid has been submitted.
  • Update and organize the estimating folder and answer questions.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school education or equivalent.Degree in related field is preferred.Minimum of five years’ experience as an Estimator in structural steel required.Must be able to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel.

Physical Demands

Requires some overtime and weekend work.May require some overnight travel.Must be capable of multi-tasking and be efficient in time management.Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment to meet deadlines.Must be able to sit and work on a computer most of the workday.
