Job summary

Steele Solutions is seeking an Estimator in Tiffin, Ohio to support customers with cost-effective, CAD-driven estimates for steel platforms and related equipment. You will work with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management to convert concepts into quotations and BOMs, ensuring competitive pricing and on-time delivery.

The role emphasizes interpreting drawings, calculating materials and labor, and collaborating across teams to optimize costs. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.

Estimator (Manufacturing / Steel Fabrication)

Steele Solutions is a leading manufacturer of steel work platforms, material handling systems, safety structures, and custom-engineered solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join our team and support customers across a variety of industries.

This role combines estimating, design, and customer interaction to develop cost-effective solutions for unique customer projects. The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, working with technical drawings, and collaborating with sales, engineering, and project management teams to bring projects from concept to quotation.

Location: Tiffin, Ohio
Schedule: Office, Generally 4 9’s and a 4 on Friday
Travel: Limited, occasional customer site visits as needed

What You'll Do:

• Review customer specifications, blueprints, drawings, and project requirements.
• Develop accurate cost estimates and quotations for steel platforms, gravity chutes, safety lockers, and other custom solutions.
• Determine material, labor, and manufacturing requirements for proposed projects.
• Generate bills of materials and identify cost drivers that impact project pricing.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Create customized solutions using standard SSI products and components.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
• Assist with product improvements and enhancements based on customer feedback and market needs.
• Occasional travel to customer locations may be required.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to read CAD software 2D and 3D models.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in estimating, manufacturing, engineering support, applications engineering, technical sales, or project engineering.
• Experience working in steel fabrication, metals manufacturing, structural steel, material handling, or industrial equipment environments.
• Experience developing bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing estimates.
• Familiarity with distributor networks and B2B customer relationships.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and custom fabricated products.

Technical Skills:

Preferred experience with one or more of the following:

• AutoCAD.
• 3D Modeling Software.
• BOM Creation.
• Cost Estimating.
• Manufacturing Processes.
• Engineering Documentation.
