Job summary

SLS Consultants LLC is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to bolster our Preconstruction team. The role covers complex Data Center, Healthcare, Aviation, and Commercial projects, from concept to construction documentation, with direct client interaction to guide design decisions and offer strategic cost advice.

The ideal candidate brings 8–10+ years of estimating experience, strong conceptual and design-phase skills, and proficiency with CostX.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of Mechanical and/or Electrical estimating experience.
• Strong background in conceptual and design-phase estimating.
• Proficiency with CostX estimating software.
• Client-facing experience with the ability to confidently present and defend estimates.
• Data Center experience is highly preferred; Healthcare, Aviation, or Commercial project experience is also valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual through detailed estimates (Class 5 through Class 1) across all design phases.
• Prepare Mechanical and Electrical quantity takeoffs and cost plans using CostX.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to set budgets.
• Lead value engineering and cost-saving recommendations during design development.
• Present estimates, assumptions, and cost strategies to clients and project teams.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and scope gaps during preconstruction.
• Maintain cost databases, benchmarks, and historical pricing.
• Support Data Center, Healthcare, Aviation, and Commercial building projects from concept through construction docs.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Estimator to join our growing Preconstruction team. This individual will support some of the most complex and high-profile projects across Data Centers, Healthcare, Aviation, Commercial Buildings, and Interior Fit-Out sectors. The ideal candidate combines strong technical estimating expertise with the ability to communicate directly with clients, guide design decisions, and provide strategic cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual through detailed estimates (Class 5 through Class 1) throughout all phases of design.

• Prepare Mechanical and Electrical quantity takeoffs and cost plans utilizing CostX.

• Partner directly with clients, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to establish project budgets.
