Job summary

Enfield Enterprises, a federal government contractor, is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings and specifications, assemble bids for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus, and coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and clients across our Springfield, MA, Pensacola FL, or Ballston Spa NY offices.

The role requires a minimum of ten years’ related experience, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years’ related experience or equivalent blend of education and work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes and project schedule.
• Ability to obtain security clearance as required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates by completing quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies.
• Prepare and assemble bids for Lump Sum, GMP, Cost Plus, etc.
• Serve as liaison with subcontractors, design team, and client.
• Develop value analyses and coordinate scope with project team.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor proposals relative to their scope.
• Manage post-bid action items and finalize subcontract scope.

Enfield Enterprises, a well-established company specializing in federal government contracting is in need of estimators to be located in our Springfield, MA, Pensacola FL, or Ballston Spa NY offices.

Overview

Prepare detailed cost estimates based on the construction drawings and specifications. Communicate bids and scopes of work.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare detailed estimates by completing quantity take-offs, analysis, estimate input, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope.
• Prepare and assemble bids and proposals for various contract types. (Lump Sum,
• Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Cost Plus, etc.)
• Serve as liaison with subcontractors, design team (architects, engineers, consultants) and client.
• Point of contact for managing assigned trade subcontractors and distributing information.
• Develop a value analysis study by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient.
• Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades as required; coordinate with project team to eliminate scope gaps and overlaps.
• Responsible for understanding all factors required to prepare bids, including contract documents, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means and methods.
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimate for assigned scope.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work.
• Manage action items from Post Bid and finalize subcontract scope.
• Occasionally perform duties outside scope of job description.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Understand, execute, and remember complex instructions.
• Ability to follow directions, work with minimal supervision and exercise discretion and judgment regarding matter of significance.
• Ability to obtain security clearance as required.
