Job summary

Trane Technologies in the United States is seeking an Equipment Estimator II to join our HVAC project teams. You will review plans and specifications, develop cost estimates, and support account managers by pricing equipment.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 3–5 years’ estimating or construction experience; strong communication and MS Office skills; and flexibility for overtime. Travel may be involved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology or business management preferred with minimum of three to five years’ experience in estimating, project management, HVAC or construction management.
  • Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; practical experience and leadership alignment are valued.
  • Strong communication, proactive approach, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines in a high-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans and specifications and develop cost estimates for Trane materials, subcontractors, and labor.
  • Provide knowledge and consultation to develop facility-related solutions for customers.
  • Determine project needs and responsibilities to meet HVAC design and installation requirements.
  • Develop, evaluate, and discuss possible solutions with project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate selection and pricing and integrate equipment, controls, and services.
  • Prepare and review proposals and equipment submittals.
  • Assist Account Manager with proposal pricing and project schedule.
  • Assist with data collection to ensure bid information is up to date.

What's in it for you:

Trane in Wilmington, MA is hiring for an Equipment Estimator II to join our team. In this role, you will be will be closely interacting with customers, account manager(s), other assigned project managers, technicians and suppliers to ensure timely completion of assigned estimates and project execution. Responsibilities include technical selection and pricing of equipment for each project. Must be able to provide estimating support to the equipment sales team.

What you will do:
  • Responsible for reviewing Plans & Specifications and developing cost estimates, ensuring accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc. of Trane materials, sub-contractors, non-Trane purchased equipment, labor (start-up, service work, etc.), and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding projects.

  • Provides knowledge and consultation in the form of developing facility-related solutions for the customer’s problems.

  • Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the entire customer’s HVAC system design and installation requirements.

  • Develops, evaluates, and discusses possible solutions with Account Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer.

  • Coordinates selection, pricing, and integrates equipment, controls, and services for each project.

  • Prepares, finalizes, and reviews preliminary and/or final proposal complete. Prepares equipment submittals and validates equipment selection.

  • Assist Account Manager determine proposal price, selling strategy, and develop project fulfillment schedule with project team.

  • Assists with data collection and entry to ensure proper bid information is up to date.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or business management preferred with minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in estimating, project management, engineering, HVAC or construction management; or equivalent combination of education and industry related experience.

  • Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; we prioritize practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with our leadership principles.

  • Strong communication skills, proactive approach with willingness to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Proven experience prioritizing tasks in order to meet tight deadlines within a high-paced environment with attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

  • Familiarity with the operation of HVAC Systems and/or Temperature Controls preferred.

  • Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$65,300.00 - $117,635.00
