Job summary

Sincere Builders in Houston is seeking an Estimator II to own the estimating process on assigned projects from takeoff through award and hand-off. As a mid-level estimator, you will independently produce accurate, competitive bids, interface with subs and clients, and help develop junior estimators while reporting to the Director of Pre-Construction.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial estimating experience.
• Proven ability to independently produce accurate, competitive, fully qualified bids.
• Strong understanding of plans, specifications, and construction scopes across trades.
• Experience soliciting, vetting, and leveling subcontractor bids.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and clients.

• Verify and/or compile takeoffs and produce accurate estimates using provided company software.
• Interface with subcontractors to obtain accurate bids.
• Vet each subcontractor's bid and conduct bid leveling.
• Find quality subcontractors as needed and qualify them.
• Send RFIs to architects as needed.
• Compile all information in project management software and produce a comprehensive bid for the client.
• Present bids directly to clients and explain Sincere's Scope of Work.
• Train, mentor, and develop junior estimators, and review their work for accuracy.
• Partner with upper management, the Project Manager, and the Superintendent to continuously improve estimating processes and efficiency.

Sincere is a commercial construction general contractor that wins the right work at defensible margins and delivers clean, buildable scope to the field. We're looking for an Estimator II to own the estimating process on assigned projects from takeoff through award and hand-off.

As a mid-level estimator, you'll independently produce accurate, competitive bids with minimal oversight, communicate directly with subcontractors and clients, and help develop our junior estimators. This is a step up from an entry-level role: you'll carry full projects on your own and be a go-to resource on the estimating team, reporting to the Director of Pre-Construction.

Mission of the Position

Ensure each assigned estimating project is estimated in an accurate and timely manner by communicating with subcontractors throughout the bidding process. Qualify bids and ensure they are competitive and cover all scopes on the plans and specs. Work closely with management during client meetings to present bids and explain Sincere's Scope of Work. Ensure awarded projects are successfully turned over to the Project Management team, and assist in the training and development of junior estimators.

• Create and maintain a bid tab for each trade on each project
• Keep an updated cost list of materials, equipment, and subcontractor unit pricing
• Find quality vendors and obtain the best pricing
• Independently manage the full estimating process on assigned projects, from takeoff through award, with minimal oversight
• Own more complex bids and larger scopes with confidence
• Present bids directly to clients and clearly explain Sincere's Scope of Work
• Train, mentor, and develop junior estimators, and review their work for accuracy
• Partner with upper management, the Project Manager, and the Superintendent to continuously improve estimating processes and efficiency

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Proven ability to independently produce accurate, competitive, fully qualified bids
• Strong understanding of plans, specifications, and construction scopes across trades
• Experience soliciting, vetting, and leveling subcontractor bids
• Excellent written and verbal communication with subcontractors, vendors, architects, and clients
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids against deadlines
• Experience mentoring or training junior team members is a plus
