Job summary

Steady Solutions is seeking an Estimator to join our team in Thousand Oaks, California. This role involves preparing commercial construction estimates, participating in site walks, and collaborating with project managers. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating along with proficiency in Bluebeam and Excel.

Steady Solutions is a growing design-build commercial general contractor delivering interior tenant improvements and selective exterior construction projects across the Western U.S. We operate in a structured, execution-focused environment and partner with institutional and corporate clients who value predictability, transparency, and disciplined delivery. Due to continued growth and a strong backlog, we are seeking an Estimator to support our estimating and preconstruction efforts and contribute to accurate, competitive project pricing.

Position Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing commercial construction estimates from early design through final pricing. This is a hands‑on role supporting negotiated work, hard bids, and GMP projects. The position works closely with senior estimators, project managers, and field teams to ensure estimates are thorough, well‑documented, and aligned with project execution. This role plays an important part in building accurate budgets and helping position projects for successful delivery.

  • Prepare commercial construction estimates from concept through bid
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
  • Assist in developing project budgets and cost breakdowns
  • Review plans to identify scope gaps and potential risks
  • Support preparation of bid clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions
  • Assist with change order pricing and cost validation
  • Participate in site walks and pre‑bid meetings as needed
  • Solicit and review subcontractor bids
  • Assist in leveling and comparing subcontractor pricing
  • Review scopes of work for completeness
  • Support subcontractor outreach and bid coverage tracking
  • Work closely with Project Managers and field leadership
  • Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data
  • Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating tools effectively
  • Assist with conceptual and ROM estimates as needed
Experience & Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of experience in commercial construction estimating or project support
  • Experience with hard‑bid and negotiated projects preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction means and methods
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel (Procore experience a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
