Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation seeks a BESS Estimator I to support Lead Estimators on large utility-scale energy storage projects. You will help develop conceptual and final estimates for self-perform work and present findings to the leadership team with back-up documentation.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in business or engineering, have up to 2 years estimating experience in electrical construction, and are proficient with MS Office.

Qualifications

• BS degree in business or engineering (preferred).
• 0–2 years estimating experience in industrial electrical construction.
• Experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, or Power Generation preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to compose basic and complex technical documents and formal letters.
• Strong presentation skills to large, diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Take meeting minutes and track action items with team.
• Perform basic low-impact side projects such as cost analysis and time studies.
• Maintain document control with BESS Lead Estimator.
• Review departmental estimating reports to build acumen.

Job description

The BESS Estimator I will be responsible for supporting the BESS Lead Estimators with estimates of complex and large utility scale energy storage projects. An estimator is the single point of accountability for the completion of conceptual and final hard-bid estimates for self-perform construction work. An BESS Estimator I will support the development of an estimate under guidance from a BESS Lead Estimator and BESS Estimating Manager including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality. An estimator must be capable of presenting their estimate to the leadership team, demonstrating high competency of all components of the estimate and include back-up supporting documentation to defend the estimate and the information used to assemble it.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Partners with team to take meeting minutes and tracks action items.
• Performs basic low impact side projects for the BESS Estimating Manager and Director of Estimating such as cost analysis, time studies, etc.
• Works with BESS Lead Estimator to maintain document control.
• Reviews all estimating departmental reports while developing estimating acumen.
• Participates in capturing team meetings and client meetings.
• Estimates small portions of the overall estimate under close supervision.
• Travels to projects to understand Primoris' high level of project completion; develop relationships with site personnel and perform time studies.
• Collaborates in reviewing project/client documents.
• Provides support as needed for various tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Prefer BS degree in a business or engineering disciplined program.
• Preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, or Power Generation.
• Minimum of 0-2 years' experience estimating industrial electrical construction projects.
• Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS office application proficiency.
• Demonstrated skills in written communications; ability to compose basic as well as complex technical documents, formal letters, invoices.
• Demonstrated skills in oral communications; ability to make presentations to large, diverse groups.
• Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships while effectively navigating organizational barriers.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Working knowledge of project accounting practices and financial systems.
• General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanisms.
• Working knowledge of the techniques needed to lead and influence others in a matrix organization.
