Job summary

Binsky, a leading mechanical contractor in New Jersey, seeks an Estimator, HVAC Follow Up to evaluate field requests and turn around pricing quickly. You will interpret specifications, read plans, and prepare detailed estimates for HVAC systems, assisting with vendor quotes and transition to project teams.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred and at least 2 years of estimating experience in commercial HVAC and plumbing.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial/service work.
• Experience with estimating software such as Quickpen.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Ability to read architectural, structural and mechanical plans.
• Strong math, organizational, verbal and written skills.
• Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing theory and code to identify issues with designs or conflicts with other trades.
• Develop client/vendor relationships to improve competitiveness.
• Comfortable working with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Reading and understanding of mechanical blueprints and other specifications for takeoffs.
• Develop and provide complete, accurate and timely detailed estimates representing HVAC systems, costs, overhead and profit.
• Maintain all files of working bid documents, notes and assumptions of estimates; coordinate with Service/PM for a smooth transition.
• Work with and obtain pricing from various vendors and subcontractors through completion of bids.
• Identify any unique requirements of proposals and incorporate related costs.
• Obtain labor and material information from field technicians to provide quotes to clients.
• Assist Service Manager in purchasing equipment and material for projects.
• Day to Day follow up requires 24 to 48 hour turnaround.

We are seeking a Estimator, HVAC Follow Up to join our Integrated Service Division in Somerset New Jersey.

The Role

The Estimator, HVAC Follow Up is responsible for evaluating requests that come in from the field team and customers. Analyzing, documentation and information presented to successfully turn around follow up pricing within a reasonable time frame.

Accountabilities:

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Reading and understanding of mechanical blueprints and other specifications for takeoffs
• Develop and provide complete, accurate and timely detailed estimates representing HVAC systems, costs, associated general conditions and required overhead and profit.
• Maintain all files of working bid documents, notes and assumptions of estimates. Coordinate with the Service and or Project Manager to ensure a smooth transition.
• Work with and obtain pricing from various vendors and subcontractors through completion of bids.
• Identify any unique requirements of any proposals and incorporate the related costs into those project estimates
• Obtain labor and material information from field technician to provide quotes to clients
• Assist Service Manager in purchasing equipment and material for projects.
• Day to Day follow up requires 24 to 48 hour turn around.

Qualifications:

Skills

• A solid understanding and broad knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and institutional service work, including hospitals, schools, R&D facilities and multi-story buildings.
• Strong computer and technology skills including estimating software such as Quickpen.
• Ability to prioritize, set goals and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to read architectural, structural and mechanical plans and be familiar with a variety of HVAC, plumbing and Process piping systems and terminology
• Demonstrate strong math aptitude, organization, verbal, written and analytical skills
• Knowledge Mechanical and Plumbing theory and code to identify issues with the designs or conflicts with other trades
• Enhance competitive market ability through client and vendor relationships.
• Must be comfortable working with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and vendors.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred (not required).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial HVAC and plumbing systems estimating.

Physical Requirements

Physical activity not limited to: Ability to sit for long periods of time, walk, stand, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers & lifting up to 50 pounds.
