Job summary

Aireko Services & Installation is seeking a construction cost estimator to prepare budgets and bid pricing for HVAC-related projects in Puerto Rico. You will analyze blueprints, gather historical cost data, and coordinate with engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to optimize cost efficiency.

The role requires strong Excel skills, cost-management experience, and fluency in English and Spanish. Travel to sites may be required, and you will support tendering and reporting throughout project

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred).
  • Previous cost estimating experience in a construction project environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capability.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, estimating pricing models and cost management tools.
  • Fully bilingual English and Spanish.

  • Prepare cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether to produce or purchase components.
  • Visit site and record information about access, drainage and topography, and availability of services.

Job description

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: Prepare cost estimates for construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service in HVAC Equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Visit site and record information about access, drainage and topography, and availability of services such as water and electricity.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS Engineering (Civil or Mechanical preferred)
  • Previous experience of cost estimating (construction project environment preferred)
  • Good IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in the use of spreadsheets, estimating pricing models and cost management tools
  • Able to show evidence of adding value and cost optimization
  • Knowledge and understanding of a variety of mechanical construction processes and components and ability to evaluate and analyze associated costs
  • Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish)
