Job summary

Kimmel & Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator for heavy civil and underground utility projects in the Baltimore area.

In this role you will develop accurate, competitive bids, evaluate plans, and coordinate with project stakeholders, suppliers, and subcontractors to drive successful proposals. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil infrastructure, a civil engineering or construction management background, and proficiency with HCSS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of full-time estimating experience in heavy civil and underground utilities.
• Experience with reading plans, specs, labor requirements, and bid documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and bid documents to determine scope and estimating requirements.
• Develop detailed estimates for heavy civil and underground utilities, wet or dry.
• Calculate crew costs, labor classifications, equipment, staffing, materials, and costs.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to set schedules, budgets, and risks.
• Solicit pricing from suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate costs.
• Identify cost exposures and risks; report findings to Chief Estimator.
• Review estimates with Chief Estimator to validate pricing and strategy.
• Prepare bid packages for timely submission and accuracy.
• Update estimates for last-minute price changes before bids.
• Lead turnover with Superintendent and project team for transition.
• Perform additional estimating and preconstruction duties as needed.
