Job description

Estimator — Win the Work That Builds the Southwest

Lakewood, CO | Full-Time, Exempt | $115,000 – $130,000

The Opportunity

Every project a contractor builds starts with an estimator who won it. Our client — one of the Southwest's largest general contractors, with 50 years in business and projects from fast-track tenant improvements to $100M+ ground-up developments — is hiring an Estimator for their Denver-area office. You'll lead estimates from spec review through bid day, set strategy, build the subcontractor relationships that create coverage, and directly shape which projects the company wins. Full ownership, real strategic impact.

Why You'll Love It
  • Lead, don't assist: Take full charge of public works and private bids
  • Strategy over spreadsheet-jockeying: Bid strategy, sub coverage tactics, and competitive positioning are yours to craft
  • Self-perform edge: In-house concrete and carpentry give your numbers a competitive advantage
  • Full benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k) with match, parental leave, PTO, paid holidays, disability and supplemental coverage
What You'll Do
  • Read and outline project specifications; establish bid strategies, concerns, and advantages
  • Define priority subcontractors and direct bid solicitation and coordination through SmartBid
  • Write and review subcontractor work scopes; conduct pre-bid meetings with operations and subs
  • Advise operations on logistics, staging, phasing, and coordination
  • Build Bid Day Summaries, General Requirements spreadsheets, and conceptual estimates
  • Perform accurate takeoffs across CSI Divisions 1–46
  • Price self-performed and subcontracted work on a unit-price basis; build database pricing from sub and field production data
  • Strengthen existing subcontractor relationships and recruit new bidders — especially in new geographic markets
  • Execute bid forms and bid bonds; review estimates for accuracy, constructability, and risk
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years estimating commercial construction, including projects over $5M
  • Proven ability to lead an estimate start to finish
  • Creativity and strategic thinking to out-plan the competition
  • Self-perform concrete and carpentry experience highly desired
  • Proficiency in Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and Microsoft Office
