Job summary

System One is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator for our Denver metro area office. The role focuses on developing accurate project estimates from concept through bid submission, with 3–5+ years of relevant GC estimating experience and close collaboration with PMs, subs, and the preconstruction team.

The position is in-office, full-time, and involves reviewing plans, managing multiple bids, and tracking market conditions to deliver competitive estimates. DOE applies.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Experience with a General Contractor is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review plans and specifications across architectural, structural, MEP, civil elements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material and labor costs.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids.
• Identify scope gaps and potential cost risks.
• Develop competitive and accurate bid proposals.
• Maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases and project docs.
• Communicate pricing and scope with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and reviews.
• Coordinate handoff from estimating to construction.

Commercial Construction Estimator

Location: Denver Metro Area, CO
Job Type: Full-Time | In-Office
Pay: $75,000–$90,000 per year, DOE

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team in the Denver metro area. This position is ideal for someone with 3–5+ years of commercial general contracting estimating experience who is comfortable managing multiple bids, reviewing construction documents, and developing accurate project estimates from concept through bid submission.

This is an in-office position working closely with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and the preconstruction team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial construction projects
• Review architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and other construction plans and specifications
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate material and labor costs
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and potential cost risks
• Develop competitive and accurate bid proposals
• Maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases, and project documentation
• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and clarify scope
• Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews as needed
• Work closely with project management and preconstruction teams to ensure a smooth handoff from estimating to construction
• Track market conditions, material pricing, and subcontractor availability
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience
• Experience working for a General Contractor strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
• Experience with quantity takeoffs and subcontractor/vendor solicitation
• Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience with estimating software such as Procore, Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, or similar is a plus
