Estimator – Data Center Construction Lead

Job summary

PCL Construction is seeking an Estimator to support its national data center unit. You will lead small to medium estimates, review bid documents, and perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, equipment and materials.

This role requires strong knowledge of bid processes and market conditions and offers opportunities across multiple regions. Your experience in construction cost estimating, plus on-site exposure, will help assess risks and drive accurate bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
• 4 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6 months of on-site experience is preferred.
• Successfully led pursuits valued at up to $25 million in various delivery methods.
• General construction knowledge; understands specifications, drawings, materials, and methods and procedures.
• Understanding of bid preparation; including quantity takeoff procedures and subtrade procurement.
• Familiar with hard bid, GMP, unit price, design-build, target prices, and cost reimbursable.

Responsibilities

• Leads small to medium estimates or components of large estimates and reviews all bid documents.
• Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate project requirements.
• Ensures full quantity take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials from project documents.
• Supports the estimate lead by populating tender forms and information requests.
• Assists with bid document control and archives information for transfer to the project team.
• Builds relationships with stakeholders including subtrade partners and suppliers.
