Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is seeking a Sales Estimator to accurately review contract drawings and specifications, and to enter data into spreadsheets for quoting projects.

This role collaborates closely with the internal sales team to compile pricing information. The estimator will prepare material take-offs, track addendums, and coordinate with engineers and customers to ensure accurate design and cost savings are achieved.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic building construction, drawings and specifications.
• Strong math skills and understanding of geometry.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to coordinate, multitask and stay detail-oriented under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare joist and deck material take offs from drawings to meet deadlines.
• Read and understand drawings, specs, addendums, and industry practices.
• Track addendums and update bid calendar on Salesforce.
• Assist DSM with coordination and bid-specific information.
• Communicate with customers, engineers, architects and internal departments as needed.
• Collaborate with sales engineer to ensure accurate design and cost savings.
