Job summary

Rinker Materials in Florida seeks an on-site Estimator to prepare timely quotes and bids for manufactured products. You will read engineering drawings and project specs to identify precast components, determine material and equipment needs, and establish cost estimates for materials, subcontracted work, and labor.

Collaboration with customers and the sales team is essential. The role requires strong communication, analytical and planning skills, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering plans and project specifications, including drawing organization and quantity takeoffs
• Knowledge of construction or engineering principles relevant to estimating; direct manufacturing experience not required
• Understanding of bidding/quoting processes and information gathering for accurate estimates
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, VPN usage, and web-based file storage
• Strong written and verbal communication, professional interaction with customers and sales teams
• Superior analytical, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and adapt to changing demands

This position works on-site at a Rinker facility in DeLand or Green Cove Springs, Florida. This is not a work-from-home, remote, or hybrid position.

About The Role

• Prepare timely, accurate estimates and quotes for manufactured products, projects, and services to support bidding and pricing decisions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to identify applicable precast components, perform quantity takeoffs, and determine material and equipment requirements.
• Identify missing or unclear project information and ask questions to obtain the details needed for a complete and accurate quote.
• Itemize tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured by company or purchased from outside sources.
• Establish cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor.
• Communicate effectively with customers and the sales team, provide timely responses, and clarify project needs to support the bid and quote process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering plans and project specifications, including drawing organization, abbreviations, the distinction between plans and specifications, and quantity takeoffs.
• Knowledge of construction or engineering principles relevant to estimating. Direct manufacturing experience is not required; construction estimating, contractor quoting, and pre-construction estimating experience are applicable.
• General understanding of project bidding and quoting, including identifying the information needed to prepare an accurate estimate.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, VPN database system usage and web-based file storage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with customers, respond promptly, and understand and support customer needs.
• Superior analytical, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, seek clarification, and develop new skills while managing competing demands and adapting to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
• Early-career candidates who meet the plan-reading and estimating requirements and are eager to learn and grow are encouraged to apply.
