Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
  • Experience estimating commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
  • Healthcare, education, institutional, municipal project experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, drawings, and specs.
  • Experience with detailed takeoffs and bid proposals.
  • Proficiency with Accubid, ConEst, McCormick or similar software.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
  • Residential-only estimating experience will not be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects.
  • Review drawings, specs, contracts, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop complete bid proposals, scope clarifications, pricing summaries, and value engineering recommendations.
  • Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, project risks, exclusions, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as needed.
  • Support project turnover by providing estimate breakdowns and budget information to operations.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, bid records, and vendor relationships.
  • Stay current with material costs, labor rates, market conditions, and industry trends.
  • Manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify scope and pricing risks
  • Residential-only estimating experience will not be considered
