Lucid Search Group is partnering with a Chicago-area commercial general contractor to hire an Estimator for its growing preconstruction team.

The ideal candidate has 3-5+ years of estimating experience, understands bidding processes, and can work directly with subcontractors to develop competitive project estimates on large-scale construction projects.

Qualificações

• 3-5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and subcontractor proposals.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and trade scopes.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, bid leveling, and cost estimating.
• Familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilidades

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate estimates.
• Coordinate subcontractor pricing, solicit bids, and review proposals for completeness.
• Prepare bid comparisons and identify potential scope gaps.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with pricing assigned trades.
• Work closely with the preconstruction team to develop competitive project budgets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative construction methods.
• Assist with bid preparation, project budgeting, and estimating deadlines.
• Collaborate with project management and operations teams throughout preconstruction.

About the Opportunity

We are working with an established commercial general contractor in the Chicago area that is looking to add an Estimator to its growing preconstruction team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years of estimating experience who wants to work on large-scale construction projects and continue developing their career with a well-established contractor.

The ideal candidate has experience working for a commercial GC, understands the bidding process, and is comfortable working directly with subcontractors to develop competitive project estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate estimates.
• Coordinate subcontractor pricing, solicit bids, and review proposals for completeness.
• Prepare bid comparisons and identify potential scope gaps.
