Job summary

Barrett Paving Materials Inc. is seeking an Estimator to join our team. You will assist with cost estimates, review project specifications, gather subcontractor pricing, and support bid submissions for asphalt paving, site development, and heavy civil projects.

You will work with senior estimators, project managers, and operations staff to develop accurate and competitive estimates while gaining industry experience.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specs and bid documents for upcoming projects.
• Takeoffs for asphalt paving, aggregates, site work and related activities.
• Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support preparation of project cost estimates and bids.
• Develop labor, equipment and material pricing.
• Maintain estimating records and bid files.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
• Collaborate with project managers to understand requirements and production capacity.
• Track bid opportunities and submission deadlines.
• Assist with turnover meetings for awarded projects.
