Job summary

Actalent in New Albany, IN seeks a motivated Estimator to join a small fabrication team. This on-site role blends drafting, estimating, and project coordination, with daily exposure to customers and suppliers.

You will handle quotes, takeoffs, ERP entries, and collaboration with fabrication, installation, and purchasing teams. 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with local travel and a contract-to-hire path.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in sales, drafting, or fabrication shop floor.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of construction or fabrication processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally/regionally.

Responsibilities

• Receive requests for quotes via incoming calls, emails, or from outside sales.
• Generate material takeoffs and submit them to suppliers for quotes.
• Calculate the time required for all fabrication processes.
• Enter estimates in the ERP system.
• Prepare estimates and formal quotes for customers.
• Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and timelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams including fabrication, installation, and purchasing.
• Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Maintain customer relationships and ensure high levels of satisfaction.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in sales, drafting, or fabrication shop floor.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of construction or fabrication processes.

Work Environment

The role is on-site, Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, in a fabrication environment. Travel to customer sites may be required during the day, but never overnight. The position offers the opportunity to work in a small team with potential for growth.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
