Job summary

Actalent in Commerce, CA is seeking a contract-to-hire Sheet Metal Design Engineer to design sheet metal products using SolidWorks and AutoCAD in a fabrication environment. You will read blueprints, develop shop drawings for CNC and fabricated parts, and maintain accurate BOMs while applying GD&T to ensure precision.

You will collaborate with fabrication and machine shop teams, review drawings for manufacturability, and support large-scale infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• 23+ years of experience in sheet metal manufacturing or fabrication.
• Hands-on sheet metal design experience in SolidWorks and 2D sheet metal design in AutoCAD.
• Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills.
• Experience creating and modifying shop drawings for machined/fabricated products.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, manufacturable designs

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite, MondayFriday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
