Job summary

CT&T Fabrication is seeking an estimator with experience in structural steel estimating to deliver accurate, on-time quotes for diverse projects. The role requires reading blueprints, coordinating with engineering and sales, and maintaining vendor pricing and documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong math and geometry skills, good English communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Attend kickoff and project meetings with sales and customers.
• Log new jobs and prioritize them by importance.
• Keep current on vendor pricing for joist, deck, SSR, components, wide flange and tube pricing.
• Coordinate material and fabrication with the committee.
• Identify scope of work for each project.
• Communicate with the salesman and/or customer.
• Solicit material quotes with vendors and provide clear directives.
• Work with engineering group to develop quote engineering.
• Coordinate document transmittals with document control.
• Review each estimate for accuracy before submittal.
• Meet quote submittal dates/times as required by sales/customers.
• Transfer all pertinent quote information to the Project Manager group.
• Complete change orders in a timely manner as directed by PMs.
• Update the Job List daily in Estimating & Public folders.

Job description

Estimators provide an efficient quality/profitable estimate on time, including a clear descriptive of scope of work, to our external/internal customers. CT&T is looking for individuals who can effectively preform the duties of an estimator with honesty and integrity.

• Meeting Attendance & Preparation: (Hand-off, Kick-off, Quality, Etc.)
• Log in new jobs and place the in order of importance.
• Keep current on all vendor pricing (Joist, Deck, SSR, Components, Wide flange, & Tube Pricing and Availability.
• Help to schedule material and Fabrication with committee.
• Identify and understand the scope of work for the specific project.
• Communicate with the salesman and/or customer.
• Solicit material quotes as required by providing Vendors w/clear directive.
• Work closely with engineering group to develop quote engineering.
• Coordinate the transmittal of documents with document control.
• Perform personal review of every estimate.
• Accurate
• Meet quote submittal dates/times as requested by sales/customers.
• Transfer all pertinent quote information to the Project Manager group
• Complete change orders in a timely manner as directed by the PM’s
• Update on a daily basis the Job List In Estimating & Public folders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• 1 year specific experience with structural steel estimating, or related field in structural steel fabrication or production is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic Knowledge of and ability to use Algebra and Geometry.
• Ability to read blueprints
• Good English skills. Able to speak, read, write and understand.
• Strong Math/Geometry skills
• Proficient at working on multiple projects at once.
• Ability to visualize the end product.
• Capacity to make independent decisions.
• Computer – Microsoft windows, Word, and strong background in Excel.
• Knowledge of Pre-engineered building industry.
