The ideal candidate has strong math skills, experience with Timberline/HCSS HeavyBid, and excellent communication. This remote AU-shift role offers growth and a pathway to impactful projects across regions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an estimator or similar position.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills; proficient with estimation methods.
  • Familiar with Timberline and HCSS HeavyBid software.

Responsibilities

  • Understand project requirements and cost drivers.
  • Gather data from sites, warehouses, and vendors.
  • Analyze labor, materials, production times for estimates.
  • Prepare and submit detailed estimates or bids to stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Job Description

We are looking for a diligent Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. You will provide knowledge of costs and benefits that support profitable business decisions.The ideal candidate will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset. You must also be thorough and apt in managing relationships with key people.The goal is to provide detailed reports so the company can make informed decisions that will enhance its profitability and growth.An Estimator is a professional responsible for assessing the cost of construction projects. They collaborate with contractors to evaluate risks, estimate timelines, and ensure projects stay within budget constraints set by clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand the project/program and its requirements
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
  • Gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses or other venues
  • Conduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times, etc.
  • Use software for data analysis, forecasting,g and budgeting
  • Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors
  • Perform risk analysis
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions, ns etc.)
  • Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, ers etc.)
  • Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, etc.)
Requirments

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as an estimator or similar position
  • Familiarity with financial and project management principles
  • In-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas
  • Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset
  • Proficient in relevant software (Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid)
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
  • Thoroughness and reliabilityExcellent organizational skills
  • BSc/BA in engineering, construction science, or relevant discipline
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset

Non-negotiable skills and requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimation, with a portfolio demonstrating completed projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines and meet client expectations
  • BSc/BA in engineering, construction science, e or relevant discipline.
