Job summary

DRB Homes in Tempe, AZ is looking for a purchasing/estimating professional to prepare bid packages and create document packets to start each home’s construction.

You will take-off materials, conduct field checks, release start packages, process change orders, and coordinate with trade partners, division staff, and the Purchasing Manager to keep blueprints, pricing, and scopes up to date using Newstar and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Able to multi-task and establish priorities.
• Knowledge of the new home construction process.
• Experience with purchasing software (e.g., Newstar).
• 2-4 years in residential homebuilding or estimating.

Responsibilities

• Prepares bid packages and submits to current and prospective trade partners.
• Prepares take-offs for materials needed (lumber, trim, roofing, siding, etc.).
• Conducts field visits to verify material ordered is not wasted.
• Assists Purchasing Manager with new community setup in Newstar.
• Releases job start packages.
• Processes change orders.
• Processes variance purchase orders.
• Acts as a liaison between Division & Product Development to keep blueprints and trade partner files up to date.
• Works with Purchasing Manager and Community Builders to maintain scopes of work.
• Manages trade partner contract files with current pricing and scope.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares bid packages and submits to current trade partners, as well as prospective trade partners
• Prepares take-offs for materials needed (lumber, trim, roofing, siding, etc…)
• Conducts field visits to verify material ordered is not being wasted
• Assists Purchasing Manager with new community set up in Newstar (Purchasing software)
• Releases job start packages
• Processes change orders
• Processes variance purchase orders
• Acts as a liaison between Division & Product Development to ensure the division has the most current blueprints on file as well as all of our Trade Partners
• Works with the Purchasing Manager and Community Builders to maintain scopes of work
• Manages the Trade Partner contract files (ensuring current pricing, scope of work, contract, etc. is signed by all Trades)

Education and Work Experience

• High School Diploma required, college degree preferred OR 2-4 years of residential homebuilding or estimating experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
