Job summary

Performance Contracting Group in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced Estimator for its San Diego 571 operations. You will perform quantitative takeoffs, price materials, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to win bids.

The role requires at least 2 years of estimating experience, familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, PlanSwift, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, and MS Office. Local to San Diego and OSHA certification preferred; the company offers ESOP and a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• 2+ years estimating construction projects
• Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
• Ability to read, interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work
• Record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills
• Attention to detail and cost analysis skills
• Ability to read project schedules to determine sequencing/durations
• Proficiency with takeoff/estimating software
• Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift

Responsibilities

• Support Estimating team for product line collaboration

Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Estimator for its San Diego 571 operations based in San Diego, CA.

Job responsibilities include:

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group
• Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages
• Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams
• Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations
• Contract administration for secured projects
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules
• Hand off secured projects to the Operations team
• Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)
• Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration

Salary range:annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.
This position is safety-sensitive.

Basic Requirements

• Must have at least 2 years’ experience estimating construction projects
• Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work, specifications, materials, and methods
• Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
• Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills
• Ability to accurately read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
• Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
• Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
• Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
• Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they’re learned
• Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
• Experience with metal stud framing, interior/exterior framing, acoustical ceilings, and specialty ceilings.
• OSHA certification
• Experience working with union representatives
• Local to San Diego
