Job summary

Allegiance Group, a San Antonio-based general contractor, is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join its preconstruction team. The role focuses on developing accurate estimates for K-12 and commercial projects from concept through bid submission, collaborating with subs, suppliers, project managers, and leadership.

You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and help shape bid strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience pricing commercial, educational, or public-sector projects.
• Strong quantity takeoff and cost analysis skills.
• Ability to develop bid strategies and work with preconstruction team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for K-12 and commercial projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and general conditions costs.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop competitive bid strategies with teams.
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost data.
• Prepare bid packages and ensure timely submission.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, owners, subs, and vendors during estimating.
• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Participate in bid reviews with senior management.
• Support handover from preconstruction to project management.
• Maintain relationships with subs and suppliers in San Antonio.

Our client is a well-established General Contractor based in San Antonio, TX, specializing in commercial and K-12 construction projects across South Texas.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Construction Estimator to their preconstruction team. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with experience pricing commercial, educational, or public-sector construction projects to join a growing contractor with a strong project pipeline.

The Role

As a K-12 Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates from concept through bid submission, working closely with subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for K-12 and commercial construction projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and general conditions costs.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop competitive bid strategies in conjunction with the preconstruction and operations teams.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, historical cost information, and subcontractor pricing.
• Prepare bid packages and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs when required.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the estimating process.
• Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews.
• Participate in bid reviews and presentations with senior management.
• Support project handover from preconstruction to the project management team.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the San Antonio construction market.
