Job summary

Choate USA is seeking a Commercial Landscape & Irrigation Estimator (DIRECT HIRE) to join our team. This in-person role focuses on preparing accurate bids for commercial landscape and irrigation projects, working closely with estimating, operations, and project management to analyze documents and develop detailed cost estimates.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with PlanSwift or similar takeoff software is preferred.
• College degree preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bid proposals for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects.
• Review plans, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for landscape, irrigation, drainage, site furnishings, and related scopes of work.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and scope clarifications.
• Coordinate with operations and project management teams to develop accurate production budgets.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as required.
• Maintain estimating files, bid documentation, and historical cost data.
• Assist with project handoff following contract award.

This is an in-person position where you will work closely with our estimating, operations, and project management teams to analyze project documents, develop detailed cost estimates, and prepare complete bid proposals.
